AODA Compliance | Cycling Facilities
Working with leading transportation engineering firms such as WSP, Alta Planning & Design, and European leader Mobycon, and cities such as Ottawa and Toronto, Accessibility Simplified undertook drawing reviews and provided recommendations to ensure compliance with various city Accessibility Design Standards, AODA - IASR Part IV.1- Design of Public Spaces and the City of Ottawa Protected Intersection Design Guide (PIDG)
The project involved conducting accessibility reviews of the drawings for the active transportation (AT) cycling facilities and interactions with pedestrian clearway, providing recommendations on where and how accessibility could be improved for pedestrians in the clearway, addressing straight path of travel, opportunities to widen the clearway, opportunities to increase accessibility of the pedestrian crossing at cycle tracks and vehicular routes, all to provide direction addressing safety and improving the public realm accessibility overall.
